Progressive Women Association (an NGO) Chairperson Shahnaz Bukhari has called on the US embassy and Pakistan High Commission to help a Pakistani woman living in the US get her children back.

Narrating Saira’s ordeal, Bukhari said, “Liaquat married Saira Khan in August 1998 in Rawalpindi. In 2003 the couple went to the US with their son Junaid. There she gave birth to a girl. Their relations soured in the US and Liaqat forcibly brought Saira back to Pakistan in August in 2007 and left her to her parents’ house. He snatched passport and Green Card from her, went back to the US and divorced her. He also handed over his two children to his sister.

Saira took up the matter with the US embassy which, after investigations, returned her passport and she went to the US.

Now Saira wants her children back and also subsistence allowance from her husband for herself and the children.

Progressive Women Association Chairperson Shahnaz Bukhari has appealed to the US embassy and Pakistan High Commission to help the helpless woman in her case.
